인지과학(Cognitive Science)이란?

1. Concept: To explore or explicate human mind, including primate mind and brain in terms of interdisciplinary discourses, methods, approaches. Predominant disciplines are linguistics, computer science, psychology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, anthropology, philosophy, and recently religion.

 

2. Major historical scholars:

Allan Collins, Roger Schank, Dan Norman, Eugene Charniak, Jerru Bruner, Marvin Minsky,

Allan Newell, Herb Simon, Noam Chomsky, George Miller, Eleanor Roach, Charles Fillmore, Dedre Gentner, Kenneth D. Forbus, William Bechtel, etc.

 

Northwestern University Professors:

I directly learned cognitive science during my doctoral courses from Roger Schank, Dedre Gentner, and Kenneth D. Forbus. Especially, I learned dynamic memory and memory scripts (Prof. Schank) and scientific analogies (Prof. Gentner).

 

3. In the middle of 1980, Cognitive Science was a minor in the undergraduate programs of Northwestern University. Now, it was adopted as a major and Master and Ph.D. programs that have been very popular and influential, leading in the USA.
